What is a doodledawg?
Doodledawgs come in several
varieties. We are raising Goldendoodles.
Goldendoodles - cross between purebred Golden Retriever and
purebred Standard Poodle
Airedoodles - cross between purebred Airedale Terrier and
purebred Standard Poodle
Labradoodles - cross between purebred Labrador Retriever and
purebred Standard Poodle
Schnoodles - cross between purebred
Schnauzer and
purebred Standard Poodle
Whoodles - cross between purebred Wheaten Terrier and
purebred Standard Poodle
The crosses listed above
are known as F1 or "first generation" crosses. An F1B is a crossback
of an F1 Doodle with a poodle making a 3/4 poodle, 1/4 of the other
breed. The purpose in this is to create a dawg less likely to shed.
It is unnecessary with the Airedoodles since they are already
non-shedders. There are also breeders specializing in smaller size
Goldendoodles and Labradoodles, by using miniature poodles in the
cross. We have decided to breed only Standard Goldendoodles and
Airedoodles because we like the temperament of the Standard Poodle
over that of the Miniature or Toy Poodle. We are breeding for a
laid-back, gentle family dog.
An F2 cross is a cross
between an F1 and another F1. With this cross there is a 25%
possibility of some offspring being like Poodle grandparent, 25%
chance of being like the Retriever grandparent and a 50% chance of
being like the Doodle parents. It gets better as it goes down to F3
and F4, with the offspring being more true to the Doodle type being
sought. This has been accomplished quite nicely in the Australian
multi-generation Labradoodles. We are starting with the Standard
Goldendoodles and Airedoodles. We will be breeding F1 first
generation crosses and later on will breed some F1Bs.
All varieties of doodledawgs
have something in common. They are hybrid dawgs with an outstanding
combination of hybrid vigor, good health, intelligence and
lovableness. Much thought has gone into the choice of breeds to
create these dawgs and many years of happy successes testify to the
satisfaction you will have with your own doodledawg. Doodledawgs
are excellent family dawgs, therapy dawgs, hunting dawgs, companion
dawgs, just about anything you can think of needing from a dawg. All
are loyal and devoted to their families when given some easy
training which will be outlined on this website.
When searching for your
perfect doodledawg companion, be careful to check the status of the
parents of the puppies. They should have OFA hip certification and
veterinary examinations showing them to be healthy and fit parents
for your future companion. Many are also concerned with the
environment the puppies will be born into since early development
depends on exposures to many different stimuli which can't
necessarily be provided with caged or kenneled dogs where their
entire exposure is to wire and concrete. Our puppy program
implements the best known early training methods as well as optimal
exposure to a variety of textures, sounds, people and other animals.
Please see our "About Us" page.
We have been carefully
selecting several parent dawgs who meet our high standards.
We are doing everything possible to assure the highest quality of
puppies in temperament, intelligence and good health. We will also
offer early puppy training for any who want it, which will assure
your puppy of the best possible start in life. Puppy training can
begin as early as five weeks and will include basic crate training
and leash familiarity. If you wish to leave your puppy for an extra
month, we can also include basic sit, stay, down and leash training
as well as familiarizing the puppy with the name you choose to call
your puppy. Please see our contract page for further details.
